Mohs surgery 7 weeks ago - how can I treat hair loss? (Photos)

I had Mohs surgery to remove a small scc 7 weeks ago. One layer was removed, followed by vertical closure. Following the procedure, I had COVID and a minor staph infection of the wound which was treated with Keflex. There are two areas of wound dehiscence that I am treating with mild soap and warm water followed by a smear of Mupirocin or Aquaphor. The areas on either side of the suture have lost all the hair stubble that was present previously. What treatment should I seek for hair loss?

The key now is mainly to keep close follow up with your team. If you don’t need antibiotics, that should be dropped. If you do need it that should be continued. Some of this will improve over the next 3-7 months. I’m not a great fan of doing a whole lot more at this point but some of this will depend on what other hair loss conditions you have. If you have androgenetic alopecia in any way, then “doing a bit of minoxidil” to help out is just going to lead to hair loss when you stop it down the road. So, unless you are committed to lifelong treatment, I would avoid that for now. The key now is to keep clean and shampooed but not over gunk up with things that can cause allergy and are not needed.
