How the hernia is repaired depends upon if you go to a general surgeon and let your insurance cover this, or if you go back to a plastic surgeon. Most general surgeons will try to repair the hernia using the scope with small incisions or make a vertical incision in the are of the hernia. Most plastic surgeons will reopen the inferior scar to do the work. they would also remove excess skin if needed. Drains may or may not be used depending upon the surgeon. With a hernia, sometimes the belly button has to be sacrificed.

This is a good question, but not a straightforward answer because more information is needed. You really need to be examined and have your tissues assessed to be able to provide a more concrete answer.
