After my procedure there seems to me some depressions, more so on my left lateral buttocks. I have a long boxy shape. This was not the shape I had before the procedure. What would be the best way to even out the contour and get a smooth waist to hip contour. I traveled for this procedure and I work full time so for revision purposes I will have to see a new local doctor. Within Los Angeles. Also I feel the scar is a bit too low. It goes straight and does not curve up at my hips. What can be done
Answer: Body lift refinement Although I think you know you've gotten a very nice improvement, I understand your issues with the scar, and to a lesser degree asymmetry in buttock fullness. Overall, the problem with the scar is it's position on the torso. This is something that I repeat over and over to tummy tuck patients: it's not the length, it's the placement on the body. A scar that visually disappears is one that sits at the visual-conceptual borders between all the 'units' that make up the torso and lower extremities. These include the torso proper, the pubis anteriorly, the two buttock cheeks posteriorly, and the thighs. I agree with you, your scar is too low as it proceeds around your hips to the buttocks, but also I might add that it's too high at the pubis. Additionally, there was insufficient liposuction of the waist, and possibly lateral thighs. Unfortunately, to fix it in its entirety would require a complete revision of everything. Shy of that, liposuction of the waist and lateral thighs with fat grafting of the buttock(s) would also make a contour improvement.

Answer: Scar I would suggest liposuction on the areas that bulge to give you a better contour. The scars are often placed exactly where yours are.

Answer: Contour From the submitted photos it appears that some liposuction would help better define your curves and improve on your result. See a board certified plastic surgeon near you for a consultation to learn more. The tummy tuck appears to be healing appropriately.

Answer: Tummy tuck You have an absolutely great result. You may want some liposuction in a few areas but the tummy tuck itself doesn’t need to be redone

Answer: Body lift outcome.Body lift outcome. For most plastic surgery procedures, there are two variables that determine quality outcomes. The first is the patient candidacy for the procedure and the second is the selection of provider. Different plastic surgeons have different skill and experience levels and this has a major impact on the outcome of procedures. There isn’t all that much. Patient can do regarding their own candidacy. What patients do have control over is provider selection. I generally do not recommend people have virtual consultations, and I generally do not recommend people travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. Instead, I recommend patients have multiple in person consultations with providers in their community. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you schedule the more likely or to find the best provider for your needs. Judge, tummy tuck results based on who gets the most natural looking bellybuttons with a well-designed incision. A well-designed incision should be placed low in the front and follow an atomic contour, naturally and evenly on both sides. Different plastic surgeons have different skills in doing this. The time to be critical of plastic surgeons is during the vetting process before you schedule surgery. To redesign, the incision will require redoing the procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
