7 Weeks Post-Op Breast Lift, Incision is Too Tight, Is there Anything I can do? (photo)

Question

I had my breast lift 7 weeks ago and my breast hasn't settling in yet, when I lift my arm my left breast pushes upward and the crease starts from the middle of my breast I don't know if that is normal at 7 weeks, I've been told that is still too early and to wait another 6 weeks for things to change, that breast hasn't settled in 4 weeks. . Is it the dissolvable stitches not dissolving or did the doctor stitched it too tight at the bottom? Is there's anything I can do to speed up the process ?

This is common with a vertical mastopexy. The trade off is less scarring compared to the full anchor incision but it takes longer for the breast to have a normal shape. Usually you have to give it about 3 months.

No there is nothing you can do other then wait. Over the next 3 to 4 months you should see a change. If at that time you are still needing a touch up procedure then your surgeon will be able to help you. Good Luck!

Appears as if the better option would have been the full lifting not the l-shaped lifting. Soory but allow 3 months of healing than decide if revision is indicated.

Dear Patry,

	Thank you for your question and photos.  It looks like You implant moves higher when you lift your arm up, and seems to settle when you do not stretch your arms up if I am understanding your photos correctly.  If this is the case, then your implant may be attached to your muscle in some way.  I would start massage on this implant, both in the arm raise and arm lowered positions, but would advise you to do this only with your surgeon's consent.

It appears that your surgeon attempted to do a vertical mastopexy. You still have the end below the level of the new inframammary crease. This may settle and stretch over time. If after 6 to 9 months there's no improvement they may be a candidate for a revision. This may involve conversion to an anchor breast lift pattern.

It takes a minimum of three months for scars to mature enough to settle the shape of a breast after mastopexy and can occasionally take as long as a year. It appears that you will need several more months but the scar/incision should settle into the correct position. I would not advise revision until there is no further change in the scar as it matures.
