Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that is primarily used for facial volume restoration by stimulating collagen production. While it is not officially FDA-approved for use on the neck, some experienced dermatologists and aesthetic practitioners use it off-label in this area to improve skin texture and laxity. The safety and effectiveness of Sculptra on the neck can depend on several factors, including the skill and experience of the practitioner, the specific needs of the patient, and their overall health condition. It is essential to consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has experience with Sculptra and off-label treatments to determine if it is an appropriate option for you.As always, discussing the potential risks and benefits, as well as alternative treatments, with your healthcare provider is crucial before undergoing any cosmetic procedure.
Sculptra is not safe in the neck. The neck has not much subcutaneous dermis, sculptra can lead to lumps and bumps. You are better off using a hyaluronic acid filler.RegardsDr J
Hello Sarah,I have never injected Sculptra in the neck as the skin and subcutaneous tissues of the neck are thin and the risk of nodules is much higher and visible than other areas of the body. There are some practicioners who dilute Sculptra and inject in the neck. I much prefer to hyperdilute Radiesse for injection in the neck. Hyperdilute Radiesse acts as a collagen stimulator and bioregenerative in the neck helping with crepey skin and wrinkles. Good luck and be wellMichael A. Persky, MDEncino, CA
I often get asked about Sculptra for neck rejuvenation, and technically, yes—it leads to collagen stimulation and can be for the neck depending on the individual. However, in my experience, I personally prefer Radiesse (also a collagen biostimulator) for neck rejuvenation. Here’s why: While Sculptra is effective at stimulating collagen, the skin on the neck is much thinner than on the face, making it more prone to nodule formation if not perfectly diluted and placed. Radiesse, on the other hand, provides both immediate and long-term collagen stimulation while offering a smoother, more predictable outcome with less risk of complications. That being said, every patient’s skin is different, and the best approach depends on your specific concerns, skin quality, and desired results. We frequently customize treatments by combining different modalities—sometimes even pairing Radiesse with energy-based treatments like RF Microneedling or PDO Threads for optimal collagen remodeling.
