I perform hundreds of laser-assisted liposuction annually. I ALWAYS advise my patients to drink plenty of water BEFORE and AFTER their procedure. Understand that a large portion of fat cells is composed of water. If you went into the surgery with a certain level of "dehydration", removing large volumes of fat during the procedure will trigger your body to "preserve" water. Therefore, you may notice symptoms of dehydration such as thirstiness and reduced urination after surgery. Drinking eight to ten 8 ounce glasses (or more) of water daily after surgery will replenish your body's "water table".
