Cracked tooth and deep pocket - extraction?

Question

I have a previously root canaled tooth (no crown yet) that has become abcessed and was told it has a big crack and 9mm pocket and it needs to be extracted and an implant done. The tooth does not hurt, nor does the gum, however I realize things can progress quickly without warning. Is my only option extraction?

if the tooth is cracked and you have a 9 mm pocket, the the tooth has a poor prognosis 
it is better to extract the tooth and bone graft the site to prevent 
further bone loss.  This will prepare the site for future dental 
implant.

Hi:Unfortunately without X-ray it is difficult to give you accurate advice.  However, since your tooth is root canaled, you may not feel any pain for a while.  This does not mean there is no infection or bone damage in the tooth.  If your description is accurate unfortunately the only choice is extraction.Best,Dr. Maddahi

You don't have xray? But after a root canal treatment and with abscessed and the crack i think is difficult to leave the tooth. You would only have recurrent infections. You're best option is the extraction.
