Can jaw filler impact an existing chin implant?

I heard that filler can migrate and even though I don’t wanna get any filler on or around my chin which has already been augmented with a gore tex chin implant , I worry that If I were to get filler on my jaw specially the mandible area that it might somehow get into my implant and cause an infection leading to implant removal . My implant is around 5 years old and is well healed, still I read that with gore tex one might wanna be extra careful. I wouldn’t wanna risk a removal. I look forward to your responses since my surgeon who did my implant hasn’t answered my question regarding that matter for quite some time .

Yes, you can have jaw filler with an existing chin implant. The procedures work in different anatomic planes and don't typically conflict. But a few specific considerations apply.
How they coexist anatomically:
Chin implant sits on the bone (subperiosteal placement) at the front of the chin. It's a fixed structure.
Jaw filler (HA filler, usually Voluma or RHA 4) sits in the soft tissue along the mandibular border and at the jawline angle. It's in a different layer.
Two different anatomic compartments. No mechanical interference between them.
Why injector experience matters more in your case:
Altered anatomy. The chin implant changes the bony contour your injector is feeling for. They need to know exactly where the implant edge is to avoid placing filler over or around it incorrectly.
Vascular considerations. The facial artery runs along the mandibular border. After implant placement, surrounding tissue planes can be slightly altered, making landmark identification trickier. Vascular complications from jaw filler (rare but serious) become harder to predict.
Capsule around implant. Over time, a thin fibrous capsule forms around chin implants. Filler placed too close to this capsule can sometimes cause inflammation, swelling, or rare capsular contracture.
What I'd recommend:
Tell your injector about the implant upfront. Don't assume they'll figure it out from palpation. They should also know what TYPE of implant (silicone, Medpor, gore-tex) because some materials have different surrounding tissue behavior.
Choose an injector experienced with post-surgical filler. Not all injectors are comfortable with this &mdash; find one who works regularly with patients who've had chin or jaw surgery.
Avoid the immediate area around the implant edges. Filler placed in the soft tissue laterally (jawline angle, mandibular border posterior to the implant) is safer than filler placed right at the front of the chin where the implant lives.
Start conservative. Less is more when working around an existing implant. You can always add more in 3 months.
What complications to watch for:Increasing pain, swelling, or visible inflammation around the implant after filler &mdash; these are signs to call your injector immediately. May indicate filler-related inflammation affecting the capsule.
Overall: this is routine work in good hands. Just make sure the injector knows about the implant and has experience with this specific scenario.
