Pastel colored tattoo removal. What are the chances of having it removed completely? (photo)

Fortunately, there are good options in tattoo removal today, using innovative lasers designed to shatter the ink pigment for very successful results. In my office, we use pico lasers for this purpose, which deliver pico-second pulses of laser energy into the ink. This treatment has been shown to eliminate more colors than other lasers and often in fewer sessions. That said, you will need to commit to a series of sessions to achieve full results. In our practice, we use a combination of lasers, including the revolutionary PicoWay and Picosure lasers. These devices offer pico-second technology that shatters the ink pigment so the particles can be reabsorbed by the body with minimal damage to the adjacent tissue. Between the two lasers, all colors of a tattoo can be treated successfully. The lasers have been shown to eliminate most tattoos in fewer treatments than other laser devices. Thank you for your question in regards to tattoo removal. Laser tattoo removal is the safest and most effective way to remove unwanted ink. With the proper laser wavelength used, complete remove can be successful. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

This tattoo has colors that will make it very hard to completely remove no matter what overly hyped laser is utilized. The problem lies in the orange yellow area which is a major part of you tattoo. Depending on the system used the black should be easily removes as the reds , the purple can be resistant and I can assure you the orange/ yellows will be very resistant. I would avoid the hype about picos because depending on the system they can be very poor in removal and take just as long as the traditionsal Q switches systems. I would use a Q Yag on the black and purple and Q 532 on the reds as well as the yellow/ orange areas but understand those 2 colors may not be removed.Just go to a person well versed in removal who has been practicing this area more than a year.

You can definitely have this removed, it just will be a long, slow process.  I would recommend seeing an expert in your area, preferably a dermatologist with a good track record and the proper laser wavelengths to treat your multiple colors.  Pico lasers are advertised as being better and faster, but also they cost a whole lot more for the physician to buy, so make sure the price is affordable for you, and remember it will take multiple treatments.  We only use traditional Q-switched Nd:Yag lasers in our practice and have very good success with multiple colored tattoos.  I have not seen the benefit of buying a Pico in the literature or in personal experience, but some offices will try and convince you they are very advantageous.   Make sure you get several opinions and feel very comfortable with your dermatologist or laser specialist that is properly certified.  See an expert and best of luck!

Thanks for you question.  Most colors can be "removed" or reduced with pico lasers.  Yellow is one of the most resistant but can be lightened.  The other colors should be lessened with multiple treatments.

Thanks for your question. Your tattoo includes some "exotic" colors that include less-commonly used inks. It may be difficult to achieve 100% clearance of this tattoo, mainly because yellow tends to be pretty unresponsive to laser treatment.Of the colors we see, black is the most responsive and usually clears completely with both 1064 nm and 755 nm laser wavelengths. Dark purple usually responds to treatment with 1064 nm laser wavelength. Reddish tones are best treated with 532 nm laser energy.The best possible laser for treating this mix of colors is the PiQo4 (Lumenis). The PiQo4 is a picosecond range laser and is the most powerful such laser available (2 J of energy).

With the proper laser, any color tattoo-- pastel included-- can be removed.  We use the Enlighten III, the most effective tattoo removal laser available and have had excellent success with all color tattoos. With light pastel inks, it may take 8-10 treatments to reduce the tattoo as completely as possible.  I hope this information is helpful.
