Is there a limit to how white dental bonding can be? (photo)

Question

This is the second time in a couple of months I've gotten bonding and my dentist told me he gave me the lightest color possible for bonding? How can this be? Why did he whiten them first then? In the photo you can see my concerns and especially because you can't whiten bonding. I'm so stressed out from this I've spent a total of 8 hrs in a dental chair with my mouth stretched open just to be disappointed. How can there not be a color that matches my teeth? My natural teeth are so much brighter

I can certainly understand your frustration. It all depends on 4 factors1- the shade of the composites used 2- the color of the teeth underneath3- the thickness of the overlaying composite4 the use of opaquers These all combined will give you hopefully better resultsVery light composites are often not part of a general dentists inventory but they are availableIf you choose to readdress this have the dentist do a "mock up" on a tooth so you can see the final results before you commit to the new composite veneersGood luck

The shades of bonding (composite filling) are determined by the manufacturer. If you want the whitest teeth get porcelain. Porcelain can be stained and mixed to create very white teeth.
