Hello! I had a root canal on tooth # 23 and temp crowns placed on tooth #s 24 and 25 on January 30th. It is now February 9, and I am still having extreme aching on 24 and 25. My dentist can't fit me in until tomorrow afternoon, and the pain is beginning to become unbearable. Tooth # 23 only hurts when I apply pressure to it or bite down. I have been taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen but I can only take so much. Should I be in pain this long from this procedure?

Hi:
Sorry to hear about your pain. Sometimes due to infection, the pain may persist for 48-72 hours before antibiotic takes full effect. If the pain does not decrease in 3 days contact the endodontist again.
