First, congratulations in having a dentist choose the Emax material for your veneers. This is one of my very favorite materials in dentistry!General speaking, a cosmetic dentist will floss between the teeth before curing the composite resin cement. Then, after placing the veneers, he will do that again. It is extremely important that you be able to floss. Can the veneers be separated so that you can floss again? Most probably yes. There are several techniques that are commonly used to do this. Don't worry, your dentist is not the only dentist to have this happen to him. Dentists usually take great efforts to prevent this from happening, but it does happen and is usually solvable without needing to completely redo your Emax veneers. One technique is to use a #12B pointed Bard Parker scalpel to gently scrape away the excess cement on the surface first. Then, serrated separating strips can be used to remove any remaining cement in between your veneers. There are a few other instruments and techniques, but rest assured, this problem should be able to be fixed for you without too much trouble. It can probably be done without needing to give you any local anesthesia, but you will probably feel more comfortable if he numbs it first.
