I want to do veneers before pregnancy. Will my teeth/veneers move during pregnancy?

I heard that pregnancy may shift your teeth (baby taking calcium/nutrients from teeth) and I’m afraid if I do veneers to fix a small slight gap and reshaping, it may shift after pregnancy and I’d have to fix it again.

Dear Pudgy, thank you for your question. Rest assured that your beautiful baby will not take your calcium or nutrients from your teeth. Your baby does depend on you for nutrients during pregnancy but no studies have shown that they’re parasites that will harm your body or teeth. With that said, pregnancy can take a toll on your oral health simply due to pregnancy symptoms such as nausea/vomiting, fatigue, or you simply just don’t want to leave the house to go your dentist’s office for a routine cleaning and check up. Due to those reasons, gum health is usually the main focus for all of my pregnant patients. If you see your dentist regularly and routinely, your new veneers will be fine even during and after pregnancy. Another note worth mentioning, studies have shown that if you have bad oral health (i.e. gum disease) that in turn can harm the baby in your belly. So to recap, baby won’t  hurt your teeth, but you can hurt your baby by not going to the dentist.
