Sensitivity to skincare products and makeup after CO2 laser

Question

I had CO2 laser 2 months ago. I'm noticing that certain products cause itchy rashes, which then goes away after I apply 1% hydrocortisone. I understand that my skin is sensitive, even to products that I used to use in the past. And every time I try a new product, I'm fearful that it will cause a rash. How long will this hypersensitivity go on?

I recommend following up with your Doctor about after care and skin care recommendations. Laser results can take 6-12 weeks to settle. I recommend photodynamic therapy to improve healing. Lasers like Co2 work best in combination with other treatments in order to improve the skin's texture and collagen. After Co2, I recommend adding fraxel lasers, microneedling/prp and radiofrequency treatments. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

am sorry to hear about your situation. Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is an
outstanding treatment that can address multiple aspects of aging in a single
treatment. Full recovery after a treatment may take several weeks. A common concern is dryness. For my patients I recommend using a hyaluronic acid product, the Avene THermal Spray water, and an occlusive moisturizers such as the Elta MD Intense Moisturizer, Vaseline, or Aquaphor.  Often times this also improves sensitivity. Many patient do well with mineral makeup. Please consult with a doctor for specific
