I had 10 upper and 10 lower porcelain veneers placed 3 weeks ago. The sensitivity and pain increasing daily in the back teeth top and bottom which were not touched by veneers. Also there are greyish specks appearing at some of the margins and back side of the tooth in various places that is perplexing. I can also feel a "ridge" at the gum line on some of the teeth and 1 in particular toward the back is quite noticeable that the vaneer does not extend into the gum. Any ideas?
Answer: Pain 3 weeks after veneers placed .... #DreamDentist Without seeing photos and x rays of your veneers, I cannot say for certain, but it sounds like you need adjustments. Adjustments generally take 10-15 minutes in the dental chair and are not uncommon for people having had 20 teeth done. Also, if you are feeling ridges, you should have your dentist take a look at them to make sure that there is no inflammation or left over cement that is causing the ridges along the gum line. If you have some veneers that don't reach the gum line, you may have some recession that requires treatment and replacement of veneer.I hope this helps and follow me if you have more porcelain veneer questions. Answer: Sensitivity with Veneers Hello and thank you for your question. The best way to answer this is with an in-person evaluation, but it sounds like you may need adjustments and your bite evaluated. I recommend getting a consultation with a Prosthodontist, who can give you the best options for improved comfort. A Prosthodontist is a dental specialist who has advanced training in restoring teeth and can create a customized treatment using the latest techniques in dental veneers.

Answer: Pain from Veneers & Discoloration Hi f10a, The discomfort you are feeling in your back teeth not touched by the veneers could be the result of the alteration in how your teeth come together as the front teeth (where you have had the veneers done) often guide the bite. If the symptoms remain after a couple of weeks, consult with your dentist. At times it might take six weeks or even longer to get used to your new bite. In regards to the staining at the veneers/tooth interface, it could be some dispersed tooth-colored cement around the margins that has since "dried off" and become discolored. Have your dentist polish the area. It should come off very easily with well-done veneers. In regards to the ridge at the gum line, it should be very minimal (if any) and not cause plaque entrapment or any gum irritation. Bring it to your dentist's attention to correct any possible problems. Best wishes, Amir H. Motamed, D.D.S.

Answer: Need more info First, congrats on having 20 veneers done. What a life changing investment. Secondly, do you know if your dentist shaved/ground/prepped your teeth before he placed on the veneers? If he did, then it doesn’t surprise me that you have discomfort or sensitivity. It’s not normal to have the type of pain that you’ve described, but having all that work done some sensitivity can be expected. A properly fabricated veneer should go all the way to the top of the gum level and you should not feel a ledge. As a cosmetic dentist, that’s why I love and my patients love Lumineers. I don’t shave or grind on my patients teeth (prevent teeth damage and sensitivity issues) and they’re super thin so they form right up to the gum line where you can’t even tell something is on your teeth. You need to go see your dentist that did your veneers. After all that money you spent, you deserve the best. Not pain.
