When will my butt drop and fluff? (photo)

“Drop and fluff” isn’t a phrase my patients nor I use when describing their post operative BBL results. The end or final results are typically 3-4 months following surgery. The waist is the last to “tighten” completely, and, yes, the buttock continues to loose fullness during this time frame. And while most patients are completely satisfied after one procedure, 10-20% of my patients desire a second procedure. The second operation varies from person to person: some wish liposuction to a previously untreated area, some wish further reduction of their back rolls or waist, and most want additional sculpting and fat grafting to their buttock cheeks.  Enjoy your results, and thanks for your question.

Thanks for your question. After surgery there is a predictable swelling process that mostly resolves over two months, when the final result really settles in.  Around 70% of fat that is grafted is typically expected to survive long term. We also put a little extra to account for loss of fat post operative, which is reabsorbed gradually by the body.

Thank you for your question and I am happy to hear you are thrilled with your results. There is no such thing as "fluffing" after a BBL. The buttock area may be hard initially after the surgery, but when swelling subsides, it becomes softer. As the swelling decreases, areas around the waist often appear smaller, and some of the fat grafted in the buttocks will be reabsorbed to the body. Often a patient often starts to see the final results 3-6 months after the procedure.

I think of drop and fluff in terms of swelling going down and the fat in the buttocks becoming softer all of which usually takes about three months. The butt usually starts off very firm and high and I know patients like it but truthfully I think the results look better, albeit a little smaller, after the drop and fluff has happened.

I never heard that term used for a BBL, that is often what women refer to for breast implants. The buttocks may appear quite swollen for the first 6-8 weeks.
