can an EGD tell me if my gastric band slipped?

Question

I have severe heart burn, vomit frequently , and am unable to eat. I cannot get an appt for over a month to my surgeon. I work in a hospital and spoke with a GI Doctor who has scheduled and EGD for me, Researching this, it states an Upper GI series is required to determine band slipping

The best test to see if the band has slipped is an upper GI X-ray.  Endoscopy is useful to see if you have band erosion, but your symptoms are not those of erosion.  GI doctors do scopes for a living and make money that way.  Scoping is their hammer.  You are the nail.

Part of the studies for determinate if your lap band is slipped is necessary the upper endoscopy that help to know if there any other conditions like erosion, GERD or gastritis that give symptoms like you refferd. Maybe to know better if you have an slippage the  esophagus-gastric-duodenal series (EGD) with contrast will help to diagnose it. other studies like CAT scan may help.
