You can certainly still have laparoscopic gastric banding surgery with a previous history of gallbladder surgery. If your gallbladder was done by an open approach that can make your laparoscopic gastric banding a bit more difficult but it can still be done. The difficulty arises from the scarring that you will have in the right upper segment of your abdomen. Therefore inorder to perform the surgery we will need to clear the scar in that area, or use an alternative approach from the middle of your abdomen to place the band laparoscopically.
