MANY OF THE PLASTIC SURGEONS ON REAL SELF ADVISED "against" using foam under the compression garments TO PREVENT BURNS ON THE SKIN (immediately after surgery-- LIPO/BBL) ***HELP, IS THERE ANY BETTER ALTERNATIVES? I don't know if wearing long t-shirts under the garment, or some sort of soft unitard sleepwear under the compression garment to prevent burns is a better alternative? (a breathable material) or are the foam wraps in the above picture an improvement from the foam blocks? help

A comfortable t-shirt or the like worn underneath the compression garment usually tends to help with irritation and comfort. The most important aspects of compression wear are snug fit and that all liposuctioned areas are being compressed. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Yes, wear something like an old t-shirt between the foam and your skin.  This will prevent irritation, allergic reactions, and burns.

Topi-Foam is a silicone sheet covered foam that is safe to use under a compression garment compared to traditional foam.  A T-Shirt is also helpful to prevent irritation.  Cotton rolls are also used. These are all helpful but not completely necessary.  Discuss your concerns further with your surgeon. All the best.
