Teardrop or round be best for me? Don't want to lose shape and I want natural looking breasts!

Implant shape, whether round or tear drop have less of an effect on breast appearance as size and profile. The larger or higher profile the implants, the more unnatural an appearance. Even when going with a larger implant, always choose a lower profile. The biggest anatomic restriction isn’t breast width, it’s nipple to fold distance on stretch.

I place smooth saline implants and smooth silicone implants behind the pectoral (chest) muscle, not in front of it, for the following reasons:
The muscle blunts the part of the implant that peeks out of a tank top, bra or bathing suit, creating a more natural look. There is less chance of seeing or feeling the rim of the implant.
There may be less chance of infection and capsular contraction (hardness).
There is less shadow cast by the implants during a mammogram.
Manual breast exams are still possible after the augmentation.
I have used this approach for more than 6,900 breast augmentation patients and have found it to be safe and successful. Natural looking is the request of 99.9 percent of my patients.

Never get teardrop implants. They are nothing but trouble which was not surprising. Rethink the textured implants as well. They have been associated with a rare type of lymphoma. I thought most surgeon stopped using them.

I use both tear drop (shaped) implants and round implants in my practice. One has to understand the dimensions of the breast to determine which implant would work best. A shaped implant looks like a tear drop and like a natural breast shape. This may sound like it makes the most sense for breast augmentation but if a patient has breast tissue already, this tends to push out or project the bottom part of the breast more so than what is natural. Two things that look like a breast don't necessarily make for a more natural looking breast. A round implant often times has a more natural look than a shaped implant because it increases the breast size more evenly. I still use shaped implants in a few circumstances when patients have no breast tissue. Patients that are very flat or have had a mastectomy. Shaped implants also have the increased risk, up to 30%, of rotation so I'm very careful when using or recommending them. The bottom line is that one should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who does a lot of breast surgery to determine the best implant for each patient. All of my breast augmentations are designer breast augmentations which means that one size does not fit all. I customize the surgery and implant based on the characteristics of the patient and their goals.

Moderate profile implants may provide the result you are looking for if you would like a more natural result.
You may be an excellent candidate for breast augmentation surgery.
It is important to have an in-person assessment regarding your concerns as it is difficult to determine virtually.
There are many different factors that go into choosing a breast implant size which will correspond with your body dimensions while concurrently achieving your aesthetic results. Some of these factors are: Implant size (CC's), Implant profile (Low, Moderate, High), Placement of the implant (Subglandular vs. Dual Plane) etc. We utilize smooth round cohesive silicone gel 'gummy bear' implants for the best results.
During a consultation your aesthetic goals are heard and taken into account with the measurements of your breasts and the integrity of your tissue, as well as level of ptosis (sag). From here we collectively can find your 'perfect fit'. You are able to try out sizers and different implants in our office such that you can get an idea of what size you would be post-operation. We also offer Crisalix 3D plastic surgery virtual simulator during our in-person and virtual consultations to preview potential results. After your consultation, you will receive your very own implant sizers to take home with you (at a small cost) whether or not you decide to go forward with your procedure.
I usually recommend that my patients stop smoking, take vitamin C daily, and avoid aspirin/ibuprofen and vitamin E 3 weeks prior to surgery. I specialize in the 24-hour Recovery method which minimizes trauma to the breast and decreases pain post-operatively.
