Is my TCA Cross Treatment Area Infected? (photo)

TCA CROSS method for acne scarring using up to 100% TCA was developed for puctate, pitted acne scars that can be very deep and unresponsive to other modalities.  It appears from your picture that you applied TCA to a large area of mixed types of acne scarring for which CROSS is not indicated.  It is difficult to determine from a picture whether there is infection.  Sometimes, normal granulation tissue involved in healing can appear as a yellowish, gelatinous film.  A bacterial culture would be required to sort this out.  I advise you to have this evaluated immediately because infection of the area will increase the risk of additional scarring.  Even if not infected, TCA at strength used in the CROSS method are far too strong for large areas, even in experienced hands.  The depth of peel that this creates significantly increases the risk of scarring and abnormal pigmentation compared to standard peels.
