I smoked after hair transplant and I'm worried that I might have lost a lot of grafts. Is recovery possible?

I had a hair transplant about 7 weeks ago and I have been constantly smoking around 1 cigarette a day and I also had taken alcohol twice. I'm worried that my grafts won't grow as much as expected. Is there anyway to get the dead cells back to life again?

Dear theerat226Thanks for the question. Smoking reduces the blood circulation and this can effect the hair grow of the new hair. We know that stopping smoking is not easy for the patients and this is why we recommend to consume not more than 5 cigarettes per day if the patient can not stop. I wish you all the best.

If you are concerned smoking will cause bad results, stop smoking.  Worrying about what you did in the past is pointless.  What is done is done.

It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. One cigarette a day is not going to cause any problem. The blood supply to the scalp is tremendous. The atoll means nothing. Of course, you shouldn't smoke at all, but you know that already. Nothing can bring dead cells back to life. But I don't think you are dealing with any from what you wrote. Don't stress out so much, follicles are tough ! Grow well.

It does seem that you know what you did is wrong. Can't undo what was done. Keep your fingers crossed the the terrific blood supply kept your graft viable.

Smoking can effect hair tranplant result and that's why we always recommend to stop smoking a few days before th procedure and not smoke a few days after. Howeve one cigarette may not have an effect on overall result.
