Is a fat transfer to the labia majora dangerous?

I've heard that fat transfer procedures like brazillian butt lifts are dangerous as fat can enter the bloodstream causing a fat embolism and causing death. Is this true for fat transfer to the labia majora aswell?

Thanks for your question. Now that a moratorium has been placed on fat grafting to the muscle, the risk of fat embolism is reduced. However, make sure you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!

Hello,

Fat grafting to the labia is a very safe and effective procedure to rejuvenate 
the labia majora that may be deflated from weight fluctuations or pregnancies.
It does not carry the serious risks of fat emboli as with BBL fat grafting, where large veins
lying under the gluteal muscle may be penetrated with  the cannula. The fat in such cases then 
may then travel through the veins and into the heart causing serious harm.
In labial fat transfer, a very small amount of native fat is harvested typically from the thigh or abdomen
and injected safely within the labia. There are no large veins or critical structures in this region as with the buttocks gluteal muscle.

The dangers you mentioned are more in large amounts of fat transfer operations. There is also a risk of complications in labia majora filling, but there is much less risk as it requires much less fat transfer. I wish you healthy days.

As far as I know, fat emboli has never happened. It is a save procedure it injection is done with a blunt needle with many passes.

Fat transfer into the gluteus muscles can cause fat embolism and surgeons who do BBLs safely don't use that technique. Fat transfer to the labia majora doesn't involve injections into any muscles and is not dangerous.
