Itchy right nipple 3.5 years post. What could the cause be?

Hi, my OVER the muscle silicone implants, mammary fold incision, are 3.5 years old. The right nipple is VERY itchy. It actually wakes me up from sleeping. It has been happening for several months now. What could the cause be? The scar tissue on this side is attached to the muscle (I know this because when I flex my right pectoral the implant rises upwards.) Can I request a breast scan from the NHS to check everything is ok? My surgery was private. How much is a private scan?

I am sorry to hear about what you are experiencing. It is difficult to ascertain what this is and its causes. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon to have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

I'm sorry to hear of your problem . I would recommend reevaluation by your plastic surgeon to determine if there is a relationship between your operative procedure and your current symptoms. After examination, allow the surgeon to decide the necessity for a scan as perhaps it is not required to establish a diagnosis. The surgeon will be able to determine if further consultation is required.

Hi. You don't state your age. From the sound of it, your implants may be under the muscle, and not over as you say. The itchy nipple may simply be a local irritation / dermatitis, but given the duration of symptoms, I would suggest you see a breast surgeon sooner rather than later for a full examination and to exclude any underlying breast pathology.
