Is it easier to perform filler on a patient sitting up or laying down? (Lip filler, cheek and jawline mostly)

How do you all find injecting filler at different angles? I’m wondering if it’s easier to have the client sit upright rather than laying flat? As if they were upright I can see straight on and check everything is even?

The position of the patient while doing fillers is really up to the physician performing the treatment.  It is mostly a decision based on what is easier for the doctor.  I think it is best to evaluate the patient in a sitting position, but then I generally have the patient laying down while I'm doing the injections.  I will then also re-evaluate the patient's appearance when they are sitting up again and can make any adjustments if needed.

I like to assess my patients sitting up, at rest and with expressions, and from different angles. Patient position during the injections is really up to the preference of the injector. For lip and cheek filler, I prefer to have a patient reclined about 30 degrees so he/is is in a comfortable position and his/her head is supported by the bed.  For jawline filler, this is done with the patient in many different positions, depending on the portion of the jawline being addressed.

It is generally most effective to evaluate and treat the patient while sitting up, as this accounts for the effect of gravity on the area that filler is being injected into and provides the most accurate results.

Thanks for the question.  It depends on the comfort of the injector.  Its best to assess sitting up and then inject while comfortable.  The patient can be sat back up to reassess.
