Hollow temples are common as we age due to fat loss. A simple non-surgical alternative to fat transfer is to use injectable fillers to restore more youthful volume to the temples. This is a quick, easy treatment with no downtime and it can last for a year or two. Of course fat augmentation is a more permanent solution but does require surgery and a week or two of visible swelling. Generally we reserve fat augmentation for full face volume replacement and we use fillers for focal areas like temples, cheeks or around the mouth.
In my 30 year experience with fat, fat grafting is a high complication procedure in the temples. Irregularities are common and difficult to get out. Juvederm in the subcutaneous plane will last 2-4 years and tend to be much smoother.
Not seeing any pictures it's hard to make judgement calls but one way would be to do some gentle liposuction to these areas or if it is a small mass then perhaps a small nick in the skin and then extraction.
