What are the best methods to get rid of liposuction scar? (Photos)

Question

It's been a year since I got liposuction. I've been using silicone cream for about 9 months and now silicone sheets for 3 months and it looks like it is not fading anymore. Are there any treatments I can use, if so what treatments, how much is the treatment and will more than one treatment be required? Am also taking recommendations in Orange County.

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars.

Thank-you for your question! Based on your photographs and history, you seem to doing everything right to improve the scarring. The scars appear to be slightly depressed with no redness,  or hypertrophy. The slight pigmentation should improve by itself.  If you are looking for further improvement fractionated lasers can help. Please discuss your concerns with your Plastic surgeon who should be able to help you with all your concerns.All the best !

Hello Orangeoc.  For your scar, revising the texture so it's smoother would likely work out best with either a surgical revision or fractional laser resurfacing.  If the scar is not very wide, fractional may work great, whereas if it has some width to it, a small surgical revision may work better.
