General question here, would a co2 laser be okay for someone who is 27? Would it make me age faster lets say when im 45 due to the layers of skin being removed? I hate how my face is already starting to droop and lost volume. I want to do an aggresive laser to refresh my skin as well as tighten it. But, i dont want to make things worse when i am older!

Fractional CO2 laser is an excellent tool for skin rejuvenation in our center in Santa Monica. We use the fractional multi-depth ablative approach to help resurface the skin, recontour acne scars, improve incisional plastic surgery scars, and reduce surface irregularities from skin tone to dark pigmentation. Our approach utilizes a multi-depth approach that targets melanocytes in the epidermis and collagen fibroblasts in the dermis. This approach can be combined with a TCA Peel in a process known as a sapphire peel. Fractional laser is excellent for acne scars and contour scars in the skin. Patients are advised to undergo skin protocols with Melarase creams before and after treatment to help reduce pigmentation. Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. After the laser, we expect redness for a few weeks as the skin improves. PRP and Hydrafacial enzyme facials can further improve skin quality after fractional co2.

CO2 is the best laser for scars, but Erbium and Halo with Profractional are great alternatives. It may take a series of treatments to see improvements and to maintain. Keep in mind that a tailored combination approach will give you the most improvement with acne scars. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer. ​

If you are concerned about volume loss and sagging of facial skin, I would recommend treating you with collagen stimulating Sculptra injections.  Make sure to choose an expert in Sculptra.  CO2 lasering at your age would be helpful for early fine lines, scars, and discoloration.  Enjoy your youth, nothing beats youth!  Good luck and be well!

Hi and thank you for your question.  I don't believe CO2 will make you age faster.  Doing something like this sooner rather than later will work more like a preventative for aging skin.  With that being said, I also believe you will benefit more from Morpheus8 for what you are looking for.  Morpheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis.  Using Radiofrequency to remodel and rebuild collagen.   This will give you the skin tightening you are looking for.  I recommend speaking to your physician to come up with a treatment plan that works for you.
