Botox is great for shrinking excessive saliva glands but only experienced doctor should do it. The doses can range from 20 to 40 units per side.I hope that helps and best regards, Dr. Sapijaszko.
Botox can be used to shrink salivary glands, typically 20-30 units is a good starting point but all depends on the starting size. Please see an expert for this type of treatment. I am always treating parotid glands in my practice due to a high number of HIV patients on HAART therapy that I see. Best, Dr. Emer.
botox is commonly placed in the parotid gland and submandibular gland in order to decrease saliva production. the decrease in production effectively shrinks the gland somewhat and does so fairly rapidly as it appears to have faster onset than when working on muscle. The units vary depending on the size of the gland but typically range between 10-20 on each side.
Botox has been used in children to reduce drooling and excessive salivary gland production in children. I am not aware of its use to shrink the submaxillary glands for cosmetic purposes.

The masseter is a very bulky muscle, and so it does require a higher dose of Botox to relax it than the dosages typically used to treat the muscles of facial expression. A very typical starting dose is 25 units/side. This will achieve full treatment in about 80% of patients.
