Thank you for your picture and questions. An in-person exam would be best for you to review your options with a plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I would probably start with non-invasive measures like Botox to slim the jawline and go from there. Several options available to you. Good luck!Dallas R. Great question! It is hard to see from your smiling photos if you have fatty cheeks. But yes, in general a buccal lipectomy can help improve your facial shape by shrinking down the lower cheek region. By doing this, the jawline and the cheeks become more defined and contoured. Another treatment to think about is Botox to the posterior jawline as this will also help slim the face from a more squared to a more oval appearance on the frontal views. However, it is always best to have an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon so that your goals are reviewed and the best treatment recommendedBest of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsaiBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
Buccal fat removal does NOT affect the appearance of the jaw. It only corrects the chubby cheeks. However, it helps to achieve a V-shape facial look. Botox treatment of the masetter can decrease the width of the jaw in patient candidates. In these cases, by "shrinking" the lower portion of the masetter muscle with Botox, the jaw looks narrower.
