Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. For elevated scars, be they hypertrophic or keloid, the object is to flatten them and make them flush with the surrounding normal skin. When this is the case, intralesional anti-inflammatory injections can be used to achieve the flattening.
If the scar is indented, depressed, I.e. atrophic, then subcision with or without the accompanying use of an HA filler may be used to elevate and smooth the scar and make it more flush with the surrounding normal skin.
You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist scar treatment specialist, and be especially wary if you are hawked expensive "bells and whistles" fraxel laser, RF or other gizmos treatments for these simple problems. Hope this helps and best of luck.
