6 year old implants feel “detached” - what's happening? (Photo)

Question

I got under the muscle 350cc cohesive gel. It’s been almost 6 years and I’ve always felt the implant if that makes sense especially the left. If I push them together one side I feel the implant a lot more moving. It’s never really bothered me, however the last few months and especially the last 2 weeks it’s more aware of it. When I lean over to grab something let’s say it feels “detached of that makes sense. They seem to look okay but not sure what’s happening.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

This can happen due to the implant moving around, and growing a more oversized pocket, alterations in your body's tissue over time, or motions that could lead to the implant shifting. It's important to speak with your surgeon to evaluate the condition, discuss possible solutions, and determine if the implant has shifted and what can be done to fix it.

From the photos submitted there doesn't appear to be any obvious concerns.  It's best to visit with your surgeon for an evaluation and an opportunity for you to demonstrate when you feel this "detached" feeling.  You may need the pocket tightened to limit the implant movement.

Your implant is probably not "detached" unless you have a textured implant. smooth implants are not attached to anything. However, your lateral pocket is a little wider on one side which lets that implant move more. Right now, you are fine. If this bothers you, the pocket could be tightened.

Sorry you're having an issue. There are a couple of things that could be happening. To be 100% sure you would need to see your plastic surgeon for a complete physical exam so they can evaluate implant, capsule and soft tissue. Thankfully they still look good !

Each person will perceive having implants differently.
For most patients they get accustomed to the changes after surgery and eventually the changes become the new normal.
Your implants and breast look fine on your pictures and perhaps the issue is more supra tentorial.
