I have ITP (immune thrombocytopenia, an auto immune disease). Can I get cosmetic botox? What about lip injections?

My platelets for the past several years have been in the normal range. I would like to get botox in my face to lessen wrinkles in my forehead, mainly "the 11" frown wrinkles. I am also interested in doing lip fillers. Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can have Botox and fillers. I recommend injections with cannulas to limit bruising. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

You may bruise a bit more but that should not stop you from having cosmetic Botox or fillers.

Yes, as long as your platelets are within the normal range, you should be able to have botox and/or fillers. It takes 1-2 weeks for final results with botox and fillers. Hope this helps.

yes but be aware you may get more bruising than another patient. Your doctor will be able to advise further.

You should be confident in being safe while receiving Botox and fillers with your condition. Even individuals with low platelet count can have both of the procedures done even though they may bruise more heavily than some of the other people. Good luck from New York City
