I lost 50% of my hair brows and lashes due to cte. I also have prickling and itching of scalp which no anti dandruff shampoo can help. It feels like it comes from within. I have had a biopsy and every blood test imagineable, but all is normal, iron is very good also. How long will this go on for??  I cannot live with this disease anymore. This started at 39 after getting off bcp that i took for 4 month, i cant suffer anymore. Please help!

Chronic Telogen Effluvium "or CTE" can continue for many years. It can be very frustrating. Women never go bald but can develop significant thinning. In fact, studies by Dr Rodney Sinclair in Australia have shown that most women with CTE look the same year after year after year DESPITE the ongoing loss. In other words, hair is being lost but is also growing. Once the hair gets to a certain density, that density is usually maintained year after year. There are no great studies on effective treatments for CTE.
