I consulted 2 PS, One said my darkness under the eye is because of wrinkles which will respond to fraxel or plasma... another one said fraxel won't help because the reason is not wrinkes but rather thin skin.. not quite sure I understood when fraxel is helpful for darkness under the eye and when not? what are the alternative therapies in that case?
Answer: Darkness Under Eyes Thank you for your question. For darkening under the eye, hydroquinone is a prescription medication that helps with bleaching hyperpigmentation. Melanage peel helps with hyperpigmentation/melasma too. I would recommend consulting with a Board Certified Dermatologist for best treatment plan. I hope this helps!

Answer: Melarase creams for discoloration Fractional laser is certainly not the best first option for discoloration. I would prep the skin with skin lighteners (Melarase creams) twice daily for at least a month before considering fractional laser. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

Answer: Fraxel treatment for darkness under eye Fraxel® laser can thicken the under eye skin, so if your under eye darkness is because the skin is thinning and the under eye dark blood vessels are showing through, then Fraxel® should help. Depending on your individual eye area, the number and frequency of maintenance treatments.

Answer: Darkness under the eye Thank you for your question. There are many causes to darkness under the eyes thus before treatment it is important to understand what is causing it. Often times these conditions can be treated a single treatment or with a combination of treatments such as fractional laser around the eye to even out pigment and injectable filler to give volume to hollow tear troughs eliminating the shadow that can cause darkness around the eyes. My recommendation is to consult with a qualified physician so he can properly guide you as to the best treatment plan for you.
