Hello, I am having trouble determining what procedures I need to achieve my desired results. My face looks tired and my lower face looks long and heavy. I think the result is a masculine looking nose lips and jawline, especially when smiling. I can't pinpoint where the asymmetry is and I'd like professional opinions. I've tried masseter Botox, as well as the most generic Botox recommendations to lift brows, soften smile, etc but the results aren't dramatic enough for me. What's recommended?
Answer: How to treat minor asymmetry and a heavy jawline Thank you for your question and photos. It would be helpful to see a profile photo to get a better assessment of your jawline. However, I would likely recommend sticking with injectable procedures - perhaps adding dermal fillers to your neuromodulator treatment plan - to produce the enhancement you are looking for. I encourage you to schedule a consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon who can perform a comprehensive assessment and engage in a detailed discussion of your specific concerns and goals. Through that process and a treatment plan tailored to your precise needs and desired outcome, I believe you should see a very good result.

Answer: I am having trouble determining what procedures I need for tired face and heavy jawline? You wrote non invasive therapies "results aren't dramatic enough for me". Consider a combination of minimal surgery - mini Face/Neck Lift/SMAS & Liquid FaceLift with fillers (ie partial Y-Lift). Fees in $8,000-$12,000 ranges.

Answer: A full facial assessment Facial assessments are done using standard photographs taken from the front, three-quarter angle and the side without facial expression. If you want us to make an assessment you should post standard plastic surgery facial pictures. Look at how plastic surgeons take before and after pictures and you’ll get the idea. The pictures should be taken by someone else or using the timer on your camera from about 6 feet away. Portrait style and true mug shot lateral at a minimum. The face typically ages in many different areas simultaneously. The most common areas to show facial aging or around the eyes and the neck. Facial asymmetry is present on 100% of all people. During embryological development we actually develop two separate facial sides that eventually fuse in the midline. Because of this the left and right face are typically quite different since they form independently. Facial asymmetry is typically completely related to facial bone structure. Soft tissues are remarkably similar on both sides. Unless asymmetry is severe enough to be obvious from across the room it should be left alone. there are lots of good studies showing that symmetrical faces are less attractive and strange appearing to the human brain because were accustomed to seeing faces as being asymmetrical. The truth is symmetrical faces can only be seen through computer generated images. Great artists throughout time have known this and historical significant art typically includes facial asymmetry. You may be a little young for surgical intervention but procedures that may be recommended typically include surgical brow lift, upper eyelid blepharoplasty, lower eyelid blepharoplasty or mid face volume restoration. Correction of nasal labial folds with the use of fillers. Filler augmentation of lips. For jowls and the neck a facelift is the standard treatment for significant facial aging. You’ll find that the best plastic surgeons avoid viewing facial aging bye treating one area at a time but rather see the face as a complex area that ages throughout. Avoid surgical intervention until you need it. When people do have surgical intervention do it correctly. many of the top world plastic surgeons often do brow lift, eyelids and facelift as a standard combined procedure. these often give the best results. Try reposting with better pictures or consider having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who have stellar reputations in your area. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
