The diaphragms on the fill port are intended to be accessed hundreds of times if the proper needles are utilized to avoid damage to the silicone.
There is no limit to the number of times a band can be filled or defilled. The adjustment port has a self sealing port that does not leak, even with repeated punctures in the same spot. We recommend that a special type of needle with a Huber tip be used when doing the adjustments to further minimize the risk of problems.
There is no limit to the number of fills you can have. There is a limit to how much fluid the band can hold depending on the type of band which was placed.
The port of a lap band is designed to be accessed multiple times (probably >50) using a proper needle. The main factor as to number of fills is the amount of fluid that is injected into the band per fill session and the volume that the lap band can hold in a particular patient. Some patients reach an appropriate control of their cravings with four to five fills, and some requiring more or less.
A Lap-Band can be filled depending on how much you fill each time, a ranging number of times. It depends on the surgeon, it depend on the patient. I've had patients who only need one or too fills to get enough of a reminder to stop eating, I've had patients who needed to be extremely tight in order to stop them from eating a large amount of food. So it really is very dependent on the patient and the surgeon.

Your port may be in the way, but most plastic surgeons just move it out of the way and re-implant some where else or some consult a bariatric surgeon.
