Can TCA peel help smooth my keloid scar out and remove the discoloration? I has a belly peircing and it got infected. It left a keloid scar with a slight discoloration. It doesn't have to be completely removed; I just wanted it flatter and smoother without any discoloration.

It takes about a week for a TCA peel to finish peeling, and then another week for the skin to regenerate. For stronger peels, the healing process my take slightly longer, and of course, the vice versa is true with weaker peels.

I agree wtih Dr. Sikorski that TCA peels or any chemical peel for that matter are not appropriate for treating hypertrophic scars and may even make the scar worse. Cortisone injections and laser/light devices such as the pulsed-dye laser can be helpful.

Any reputable board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist can remove skin tags easily. They can also check to see if any of the lesions are worrisome for being something other than just skin tags. That would require the lesions be sent to pathology for microscopic examination.
