Crown color and shape off. What to do? (Photo)

Question

I recently got my permanent crown on my front tooth and while in the office the shape and color looked ok. Now a month later I hate it. It's yellow and the shape is boxy and weird. What can I do. The color is off and it's not even the same shape. Can I get luminerrs over ? I have a root canal under.

Your porcelain crown shape is different due to your gum asymmetry! You should have symmetrical gums in the neck area and the height must be equal. This should be addressed prior getting your front crown!
The color is off, depending on the material used, and the color of the underlying tooth, the room needed for porcelain, or possible staining, or the ceramist to exactly match the right color! Check with your dentist to guide you on that!
Once the crown is permanently cemented or bonded , you can not remove the crown to alter things! The only way is for the dentist to cut it off and redo it!
Understand that to replace a single front crown , is the most challenging treatment for dentist and even the best cosmetic dentist.

Hi:It's best for you to return to your dentist and voice your concern.  The shape of the teeth can easily be recountored and if there is staining it can be polished to get back the same colorBest,Dr. Maddahi.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is have a different crown made. It doesn't make sense to just change the outer layer of porcelain with a new porcelain. You're better off in the long run by having a new crown made with the correct shading and shape. Sorry!

Hi There, There is no good news here.  You cannot place a lumineer over the front of an existing crown. And matching a single front tooth is the hardest job we cosmetic dentists have.  I recommend you go back to your dentist and plead your case.  Most dentists do want their patients to be happy.  Good luck!
