Is Ellanse dermal filler better than a HA filler?

Ellanse is a fabulous product which I
use frequently to address laugh lines, and other areas of concern for my
patients. Results are instant, but even better they continue to improve in the
months after treatment as they stimulate collagen production. I use it widely
in many areas of the face, however, it is not suitable for use in the tear
trough or lips. For these areas only an HA filler, such as Perfectha, is
suitable.

Ellanse has a longer duration of action (18-24 months) compared to the traditional hyaluronic acid (“HA Filler”) gel based fillers (9-12 months), with the added benefit of collagen stimulation and skin tightening. However, unlike HA Fillers which can be dissolved with the antidote hyaluronidase, Ellanse cannot be reversed. Ellanse is also not used in sensitive areas such as the undereye and lips. For clients getting fillers for the first time or considering treatment of the undereye and lips- HA fillers would be the better choice. For clients who have had HA Fillers before, liked the result and are hoping for a longer lasting treatment- Ellanse would be a good option.

Ellanse is fantastic filler that we use
regularly to treat patients at River Aesthetics.  This is because it is unique among fillers as
it provides both instant and gradual results. Increased volume occurs
immediately post-injection, however volumisation continues to develop for up to
three months, as microspheres in the filler gel encourage the body to produce
collagen in response.
It is important to note however, that there
are certain areas of the face, in particular the tear trough and the lips,
where Ellanse would not be our suggested filler and an HA filler is recommended
for these areas.

HA filler and Ellanse can be used to
treat many of the same areas however they work in different ways so it is
important to establish what you are looking to achieve.  My first question to you would be have you
used fillers before? Perfectha,
an HA filler is a very gentle first step to addressing lines on the face.  It is also ideal for filling lips, under the
eyes to treat hollowing or for a non-surgical nose job (rhinoplasty).  However, if you are looking for a way to
replace lost volume in your face, you may find that you want to move onto
Ellanse which stimulates the body to create collagen after the initial gel has
been absorbed by the body.  In this way
the effects of the treatment are both extremely natural looking, but last
longer than an HA filler.

Ellanse
is able to deliver some fantastic results in many areas of the face, but it is
not recommended for use in the tear trough area as it is a collagen stimulating
filler.  Instead, we would recommend that
the area under the eyes should be treated with an HA filler, such as Perfectha
which comes from the same product stable as Ellanse.   Fine laughter lines might also be better
treated with an HA filler such as Perfectha,
For
other areas of the face, in my opinion, Ellanse is a better dermal filler
because it stimulates collagen as opposed to a HA filler that hydrates the skin
with volumizing. There are sustained results with Ellanse with like an HA
filer, an immediate correction of folds and wrinkles. Ellanse is also highly
biocompatible and completely leaves the body with no traceable residue.
