Can crowns still be done on completely broken teeth?

Question

I was suppose to do Crown about one and a half year ago but because of my carelessness and laziness didnt do it, now three of my tooth (on lower right, think number is 45,46 and 47) is completely broken to gum line, almost noting left over the gum area. Can Crown be still done? or do I need to do Implants. Thanks

Please go to your doctor as soon a possible. Crown lengthening is a common treatment procedure used to expose more tooth above the gum line where a tooth or teeth have broken or decayed at or close gum level. In order for your dentist to fabricate a restoration, a filling or a crown sufficient exposed tooth is required so the a restoration can be properly fitted. your dentist will need sufficient tooth exposed above the gum line to grab on to in order to accomplish the goal of tooth restoration or replacement.

Based on the information you provided (radiographs and clinical pictures are needed to fully answer your question), I dont believe crowns are an option at this point.  Crowns need tooth structure under as support and if there is nothing left above the gums, it would be very difficult to build onto and place a crown.  In these situations where the prognosis is poor, you might want to consider having them extracted and doing implants or something removable like a partial depending on how many other teeth are also missing.

I would say you need dental implant because it needs when you have crack in your tooth that extends below the gum line, your tooth is no longer treatable, and the tooth won’t be able to be saved. According to your words it seems your teeth is in same condition. Rest you can visit dentist near your home for treatment.
