I think that it should be fine to swim with the aligners in your mouth as long as they are fitting well. If they are loose or not fitting well and there is a chance they could fall out of your mouth in the water I wouldn't wear them.
Another concern with swimming with them in is if you take in a lot of water. The aligners COULD trap the chemically treated water around the teeth and over time may affect the enamel. Swimmers teeth is common with competitive swimmers and could be worsened with aligners. Maybe.
It likely DOES matter, but I haven't seen a gap that couldn't be closed with Invisalign. It may take longer than desired, but gaps can be closed well.
While they won't be damaged, they also won't move. At all. Implants make great anchors for leverage, especially with Invisalign. Invisalign is a gentle process and won't damage the crown or implant.
But you'll need to retrain your lips to direct the flow of air into the mouthpiece. Its totally doable and shouldn't be a problem. I know saxaphonist that use invisalign but they are reed instruments.
