	I would recommend that you speak with your current invisalign doctor about your invisalign treatment, and the expectations of your treatment as well as how they have set up your case (this will ultimately determine how you will improve your over jet- front top teeth in relation to lower botton teeth)

	&nbsp;It seems that you are reading a lot on the internet and you need clarification from a professional and it is a little too extensive to write about here. In a short summary, the elastics are going to help move the upper teeth back and the lower teeth forward, but there is a limit to how much movement can be achieved with only elastics. In your case your teeth will be aligned but you will probably remain with some overjet. I hope your doctor is an orthodontist!

I have been researching online and have read that you can not correct an overbite using elastics once the upper jaw is formed. I am 22 years old so I assume mine is. I have invisalign and I am really happy with the results, so I am wondering how is my bite going to be fixed- I have had elastics for 2 months so far. In order to fix my overbite, are my bottom teeth going to be moved farther out so they align with my upper teeth? I have read that only functional orthodontics treat this issue.

Hi. . .There are a few good resources to find good board- certified orthodontists. The American Board of Orthodontics has a website and can help you locate orthodontists who are board certified, which is the highest standard.

	Alternatively, you can look on the website of the American Association of Orthodontists, and search for orthodontists in your area. These are orthodontists who have completed the specialty training in a certified residency program for orthodontists&nbsp;and who are considered specialists in orthodontics.

	I would recommend seeing an orthodontist over your general family&nbsp;dentist for orthodontic treatment.

My family dentist charges for ortho consultation so I got 2nd and 3rd opinions first from drs about 100 miles from home. Both said daughter #1 was an excellent candidate for invisalign and neither daughter was in need of extensive work. My hometown dentist said pretty much the opposite and the cost is 1600 more for each child. I live in rural NE Colorado, will I receive better care in Denver or do I trust my family dentist? I didn't like the clinic vibe of 2nd &amp; 3rd opinions.

How Do I Find a Competent Orthodontist?

It is best to wear invisalign for about 20-22 hours a day for the best results and to stay on track with the aligners. If there is a time when you are not good about wearing them or wish to wear them 15 hours a day, then I would speak with your doctor about&nbsp;slowing down&nbsp;the frequency in which you switch the aligners.

Hi. Recent case studies from invisalign have shown that invisalign can be a good option for open bites, depending on the cause of the open bite- dental or skeletal.  I would recommend seeing an orthodontist who treats with invisalign to advise you of your treatment options and expectations. The long term stability of open bite correction is always an issue regardless of whether treated with braces or invisalign. 

What are the chances of treating a 2mm openbite with Invisalign? I'm in college and wouldn't want braces until I graduate but that is 3 years from now. Unfortunately I have difficulties biting and I'm worried about developing TMJ or other severe ailments or having the gap grow. I went to an office almost a year ago and they told me openbites are never good candidates for invisalign. Where do we stand today? Thanks in advance for the replies!

I would recommend that you see an orthodontist as soon as possible. It is best to treat underbites and crossbites when the child is young and growing and the bones can expand and growth can be modified. Do not wait until the child is older.&nbsp; If you wait until the child is older, it may be too late and orthognathic surgery may be required.

My young child has an underbite and a crossbite on one side. I'm wondering if Invisalign will be an option when my child reaches teenage years rather than deal with the pain of headgear as a youngster. Thanks so much.

Hi-- There is no average number of refinement trays for invisalign as it will depend on the difficulty of the case (ie. did the case originially have 15 trays or 38 trays)&nbsp;as well as how the doctor sets the invisalign case up. On average, I like to keep the refinement trays to less than 10 trays, but that doesn&#39;t always happen.

	An implant is fixed in the bone and will not move. It is possible to get invisalign with an implant, but that tooth will not move. If you can get good results to correct your overbite without the need to move that implant tooth, then you can do invisalign.

I want to get invisalign. I have a dental implant on my fourth tooth (counting back from my front one as well as including it in the number). I have straight teeth except for an overbite. I had braces as a child for my overbite, then I lost my retainer for years. It is back. No where near as large as when I was young. None the less I would really like it fixed but I dont know if it is possible with my implant being so close to the front teeth.

Hi- I would recommend speaking with your invisalign doctor. Sometimes the doctor will get more invisalign trays to close the space or sometimes he/she will use a retainer to close the little bit of remaining space. Please make sure you mention the open contact to your doctor.

I was told I would need only ten trays to complete this.

My Gap Did Not Close All the Way After my Initial 10 Trays of Invisalign What Do I Do? 

I recommend using the chewies most at the beginning of each set of new trays, typically for the first few days. As far as I know, there is no magic &quot;chewy formula&quot; that guarantees more successful tooth movement with invisalign. The chewies help seat the aligners and engage the attachments so that the teeth are more engaged and can move more effectively. When using the chewies, one should squeeze into them and hold for a few seconds, and then release. This is more effective than using your fingers.

Why isn't using the fingers to push the Invisalign in place good enough?
