Six years ago I received a punch to the face. I was told I had a Orbital floor blowout fracture. Since then, I have not had any problems except for a swelling around the cheek and gum which I manage to "pop' or move upwards the other day. All nerve pain has gone. I have had no vision issues or pain. Should I be concerned that Botox for crow's feet could seep into my sinuses and cause breathing muscle paralysis? Would this stop me breathing when asleep? Thank you
Answer: Botox in skull fracture Hello thanks for your question. The best course of action would be to have a consultation with your injector however it is very unlikely you will have any diffusion of the toxin that far. The amounts used is minimal and the toxin is placed in to the muscle itself. Always seek a qualified and experienced injector

Answer: Botox should not spread to the sinuses Botox might be more deeply inserted by some providers than necessary. In the olden days when Botox began some doctors touched the bone and backed up until they were in the muscle and then injected. This never made sense to me and especially around the crows feet of the outer eyelid muscles, a very superficial injection is needed, not even down to the muscle. With such technique there should be absolutely no concern of the Botox leaking into the sinuses because of a blow-out fracture. The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. Answer: Can an old untreated orbital floor fracture cause Botox to seep into my nasal cavities and cause breathing difficulties? There is no reason for concern or correlation. Botox injected into the crow's feet will not spread all the way to sinuses. Area of diffusion is small and is only injected into the muscle plane. Hope this helps.

Answer: Botox causing problems following orbital floor fracture Hello Many thanks for your question. Your fracture should have healed well by now so I don’t think there is any cause for concern. Also the spread for Botox is only small so wouldn’t spread all the way into the sinuses or affect the breathing muscles. I would go and see an injector and explain your concerns and medical history so they can elvaluate your situation and reassure you as necessary.
