Is there a surgery involving the removal of the iris and the pupil, so all that's left is a white eye/cornea?

The only reason to remove an iris is to eradicate iris cancer. I have come across couple of patients in my clinic asking to change the colour of the eye by removing the iris. This is completely wrong and I am not sure where the idea of iris removal came from. The results could be very serious and in the worst case scenario the patient might lose the eye.

The only reason to remove the iris is if there were a tumor of the iris. It is important to have an iris to help limit the light that enters the eye.
