I started finasteride 3 weeks ago and my hair has been shedding like crazy. I never noticed any sheds before taking it. My hair all over even on the sides and back of my head have been falling out and feel/look noticeably thinner. Is it too early to know if I should stop?

You may want to see a hair restoration specialist concerning your hair loss as there may be additional issues other than alopecia related to stress. As for minoxidil at high doses, a family practice physician may write for it however they must understand that it would be off label dosing.
Hair loss related to stress has to run its course. It will take a good 9 months to a year after the stress issues subside for your hair to appear fuller again. You have to give it time.
