Septorhinoplasty ruined nose functionally and cosmetically. Would a revision rhinoplasty be beneficial for me? (Photos)
I got a septorhinoplasty surgery in April 2024. My intent was to just get a septoplasty, but I somehow talked my way into getting a rhinoplasty as well. Two days after the surgery I was taking a shower (surgeons assistant gave the okay) and I got the cast wet. Immediately my nose felt very heavy and my breathing got worse instantly. I told the surgeon this during the next appointment, and then the 6 month and 1 year appointment and he never seemed worried at all about this. Ever since then, I cannot breath through my nose the same. Air flows through my nose well, but I can’t feel anything along the shaft of the nose and it is nearly impossible for me to get a deep breath (I have to consciously work to get one). It feels like the air just isn’t going down the back of my throat into my chest. I also got my turbinates reduced during this surgery as well, with no warning of the risks. Most of the time I have to flair my nose to get a decent breath. The septum wall of my left nostril also bled every day for a whole year before the surgeon cauterized it and my sense of smell is worse. Cosmetically, my nose lacks any of the definition it had before. It looks flat and fat, and the tip and columella are horribly misaligned. All I said was I wanted my nose a bit straighter and it is now my worst nightmare. My nose is constantly fluctuating between swelling like a balloon and looking somewhat normal the next day. The skin on the nose is discolored and the pores are massive now.
