Is stiffness after a chin implant something to be concerned about?

It is not abnormal to be feeling some stiffness and soreness following your chin implant. After 8 weeks, you will still be healing. This is something that will improve with time. I would recommend communicating any post-operative concerns to your surgeon, as they know the extent of your procedure and exactly what was performed. I hope this helps, and best of luck to you. 

I am glad you are thrilled with your results.  The stiffness is typically due to swelling in the muscle, healing tissue and a slight decrease in the muscle activity due to surgery.  This is all normal.  The rate in which this resolves varies from patient to patient.  Continue to follow up with your PS and time will return this area to its normal feel.

It is not at all unusual to feel some stiffness/soreness in the chin after an implant has been placed, even at eight weeks after the procedure.  It can take up to 6-12 months for the healing to take place.  The tightness should improve over time.  

You are describing very normal sensations commonly reported by our patients. Although 2 months have passed, this is still relatively early within the overall healing process. You will see how this will slowly improve over the next 3-4 months.

Chin will feel stiff and painful after chin implant but with time, it will soften up and you will be pleased with the result. This is a common concern in the early post operative period.

Congratulations on your new nose and chin implant!  At 8 weeks, it is not surprising that your are still a bit stiff and sore intermittently. Reason is there is still some inflammation and you're still healing.  As you've indicated, the swelling usually recedes before other sensations like tightness and aching do.  Some individuals have numbness or tingling sensations too. Rest assured, all these sensations will disappear steadily.  Soon your new chin will be like it was there all along!  First and foremost I am very happy for you that you are pleased with your results. As a Top Surgeon on realself I often read so many questions with patients who are unhappy. These patients do not really  represent the large majority of patients who have life altering results. Nothing makes you feel better as a surgeon then increasing your patients self esteem which in the end provides them with a better quality of life. With that said, it is not uncommon to feel some tightness two months post chin augmentation and this should dissipate shortly  as time goes on.  If you have any swelling or redness that appears then request a follow up appointment with your surgeon for a proper diagnosis.
