How to decrease the size of a large/wide lower jaw and chin? (Photo)

Question

What can be done about my large/wide jaw and chin? I feel like it takes away the balance and harmony from my face. It is way too large and long. I want to have a more v shaped lower face or just a more proportional one. I considered jaw botox but it seems like the actual jaw bone structure may be the culprit. Does this require a more invasive surgery such as v-line face contouring?

Jaw augmentation can be achieved with a chin implant (sizes vary) or with injectable fillers (temporary). Botox can reduce the size of the masseter muscles, creating a slimmer jawline with a decrease in volume to the area. You can ask your plastic surgeon for more surgical and non-surgical options at your initial consultation. If you are looking to cut down the bone of the jaw, which is not a highly recommended procedure, then look for an experienced, Board-certified surgeon who specializes in the procedures you are seeking. It is advisable to seek a plastic surgeon who implements advanced photo software system in their clinic so you can see a 3D image of what you would potentially look like after the above mentioned procedures.

Yes, the actual bone dimensions create the facial shape primarily; and altering the contour and shape of the lower jaw will 'soften' the jawline. Consult a Maxillofacial surgeon familiar with V line surgery in your area. It is more common on our West Coast but should be available in your area
