Can Squeezing Cause Saline Implant Rupture?

Question

My husband has a habbit of suqeezing my implants. I had them done 4 years ago above the chest muscle and just recently I notice a change in softness in one of my breasts.. one is a lot softer than the other. I'm worried that there might be a leakage or rupture due to frequent squeezing.

Breast Massage is suggested to keep implants soft. Depending on how hard your husband squeezes your breasts may actually be performing that function to your benefit.
	Leaking or ruptured saline implants are easy to diagnose as you lose volume quickly. Within days in most cases you will notice that the breast is smaller. The fact that it is softer may be that the capsule surrounding the implant enlarged with the trauma rather than a ruptured implant

It would take a very powerful force to rupture your implants. Not that the implants are considered lifetime devices, but they are made to last and are quite durable. You would most likely damage your own breast tissue before your implants would be hurt.
	
	If a saline implant ruptures, the implant deflates within a day or weeks. Usually, the shape and size of your breast will change, but when the saline starts to leak it will automatically absorb in your body causing no harm. You will need to get the silicone shell removed through surgery, at that time if desired you can get a replacement implant. If you have concerns about this issue, you should contact your plastic surgeon.

It is unlikely that your husband did anything to damage your implants. If there is a difference in softness quality of the two implants, you may want to see your surgeon to examine you.

Modern Breast Implants are engineered to withstand hundreds of thousands of compressions before failing and leaking. Although they are not infallible it would take a very forceful compression (such as a hard fall on chest from height, being hit by the dash or steering column in a motor vehicle accident) to rupture an implant. I seriously doubt that  your husband's breast squeezing habit has caused the change in texture in the breasts.

Scarring around breast implants (Capsular Contracture) is more likely to be the reason for the harder feeling breast. This condition is seen more commonly when breast implants are placed under the breast tissue over the muscle than when the breast implants are placed under the muscle. 

I suggest you see your Plastic surgeon for his advice.
